In this brochure, the core design ethos was to build around elements of nature, such as the way nature brings peace to people and what is really important in life, as well as the colors we see in nature. To this end, gradients and shades of greens, blues and browns were incorporated in the brochure to emphasize the environment. The cover page prominently features the most important display item – the proposed nature center. This immediately draws attention to the purpose of the organization, who’s name is listed directly below. The logo on the cover breaks up the text between the Watershed Partnership and the purpose of the brochure – to promote fundraising for the center. In this portfolio sample, the inside cover pages draws further inspiration from nature, where the colors brown, green and a golden shade, symbolic of the sun, split the layout into sections. When you open the first fold, you are greeted by a mixture of display items that divide the text and add life to the brochure by displaying aspects of nature to the reader. The designer did this to remind the reader what their donation would be going towards – the protection of local wildlife.

The Lawrence Brook Nature Center is a project in development by the Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership. The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership, Inc. is a non-for-profit organization working for the conservation of an area located in Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA, about 35 miles south of New York City. The Partnership was founded in 1997 to provide a unifying environmental force for the central New Jersey towns of North Brunswick, South Brunswick, East Brunswick, the Borough of Milltown, and the City of New Brunswick.
