Presentation folders and inserts

The presentation folders can be morphologically categorized as brochures, but they have specific uses and characteristics. These are ideal for presenting new products and services, for offering marketing material or simply serve as protection for other marketing materials.

The folders are made from cardboard paper and it is very resisting and they usually have one or two pockets, which serve to keep materials safe. The pages that are kept inside a folder are called “inserts”, but the folders can keep other material such as tri-fold brochures, normal brochures, small books, presentation cards, CD’s, DVDs, CD cards, product samples, etc.

In general, one of the pockets has a slot for placing personal cards. There are some folders with small rectangles, which oversee the right hand angle and are ideal for keeping file folders. Other varieties include a window in the front panel. In any of these cases, the main objective of these folders is to organize any type of material for a business, so that it can be presented in an elegant and serious form to the targeted audience. A folder with a quality design, with good level printing and with clear inserts will achieve to create a very professional image for your company.

Presentation cards are one of the most solicited graphic pieces by businesses, as they have a lot of advantages as marketing tools. In general they are distributed in commercial reunions and in large business events.

Protection: The folders protect the printed pieces inside of them, from human touch and the weather conditions. In this way, both inserts, flyers, tri-fold brochures and personal cards are kept in excellent state for a longer period of time.

Personalization: The most important aspect of folders is that it allows you to personalize the message for each particular reader. With one single folder, it is possible to create different marketing tools according to the characteristics, circumstances and the interests of the focused audience. This is how folders can be created with different inserts inside of them, to enhance certain aspects of your business (products and services) the interest of certain real clients and/or future ones.

Presentation cards make it possible to personalize the information according to the receptor and by this you prevent creating promotional pieces that are too general. This is an ideal option for the actual world, where every day, the focused clientele of any business, has diversified even more. In order to reach all people and to have more sale possibilities, presentation folders are an excellent marketing alternative.

They do not need reprinting: One of the major advantages of presentation folders is that they allow you to save some money, since any time that you need to modify some information about your business, you only need to reprint the inserts. This way, folders are always useful they can be used at any time, as what vary are the printed materials that these include inside of them. In order to make a folder usable for a long period of time, designers generally opt for placing their business name and logo only, as these are the components of a company that never vary. All of the information is included in the brochures, inserts and personal cards that are inside the folder.

As to the morphology, the traditional folder is made out of four pages, each of which measures 9″ by 12″. They have two pockets in a V form, of approximately 4″ high. This basic format was designed for including inserts that are the size of a letter sheet (8.5″ by 11″). Each printing house has its own variables: rounded borders, straight borders, 3.5″ high pockets, pockets on the sides, diagonal pockets, vertical pockets, etc. In the pockets, it is common to find a slot, for placing personal cards. In order to make the folder even more secure and to prevent any of the materials inside of it to fall, some sleeves can added at the sides (on the right or left side, or on both sides) and on the top (also on the right, left or both sides). There are also some folders with a larger capacity, which require a hard back, so that the folder does not deform itself with the material stored inside of it.

The printing of the folders is the hardest part. The printing must be done offset and this implies a very high cost per piece for small quantities, which is why they are expensive for small businesses. The paper that is used is also heavy and expensive.

In the case of standard folders, each printing house has its own model and the design must be made over that template. If you change print houses, you must adjust the design of the new template, which will add an extra cost to the design.

In case you need a non standard folder, the printing house needs to make the molds and the costs rise considerably, which is why this is an option for only a few products and businesses.

Finally, take into account that you must provide the contact information in each of the inserts, as most of the time, the pieces take separate roads.
